this poem is inspired by the 2006 “acknowledgement”.

should have said sorry, bruh

a wolf in sheep’s clothing got to me
he pretended to be my friend
with endless compliments and fake empathy
Until one day I found out who he really was
a liar ,a psychopath
and I called him out and blocked him
from my universe when he said he didn’t do no wrong
when he said, he just liked his “privacy”
and offered no apologies after a decade long lie
which added to my trust issues
but at least it opened my eyes
enough to kick him out of my life
and while I still make poetry out of him
(he gave me too much material to ignore)
I’m grateful he’s out of my life
life is too short for entitled Brads, Chads, and Kens
who think that just because of their privilege
they can get away with ANYTHING

  1. I like the fact that you use the material he provided and maybe more importantly, that you kicked him out of your life, not an easy thing to do. I just did a similar thing and yes, there are still pangs of regret but our conversations became all about her and maybe I’m paranoid, but it sure seemed to me that she had a hidden agenda…..love too, but overall not good for my mental health. It took me almost 30 years to figure this out.

  2. I just found out last Friday that my ex who broke up with me less than a year ago is getting married to the guy she trash-talked during our relationship, so I can relate to the sturm und drang of where you’re coming from. And yes, she is totally revenge material for future stories. Power on!
