I wrote this poem in October of 2021.

I don’t recognize the
Stranger in the mirror-
the me whose face
has more chiseled features
with a stronger jawline
and haunted eyes
There is no idealism
or fantasies of love
in her eyes
Instead, she stares back
at me with a look
of strength and determination-
like she’s saying –
“You’re your own savior “
and
“There’s no such thing as
Prince Charming”
-“The princess has been left
behind and you’re now a Queen”

Beautiful! The poem is good too! The mirror, self-reflection and self-empowerment…great write!

Maybe we’re just intrigued by the danger promised deep in those mesmerizing eyes…; -)

From princess to queen and most likely more attractive than ever! I’m reminded of being young and doing crazy things with a lover, climbing over the wrought iron gates of a cemetery and sharing a bottle of red wine and kissing among the tombs. God, I hope I still have some of that romantic adventure in me.
